THE SCOTTISH TERRIER
Origin: They originated in the rugged Highlands of Scotland.
Bred For: They were bred as fierce, efficient hunters for clearing out den-dwelling vermin like badgers, foxes, and rodents.
Coat Description: They possess a weather-resistant double coat consisting of a hard, wiry topcoat and a soft, dense undercoat, classically styled with a long beard and leg "furnishings" in black, brindle, or wheaten colors. We only breed Black coats.
Brushing Schedule: Use a slicker brush and metal line comb at least two to three times a week (ideally daily). Focus intensely on the beard, belly apron, and leg furnishings where mats and debris easily form.
Bathing: Bathe them roughly once a month. Always apply a detangling spray or hydrating conditioner on their long-hair zones before drying to prevent hair breakage and painful pulling
Average Weight: Males typically weigh 19 to 22 pounds, while females weigh 18 to 21 pounds.
Average Lifespan: They generally live between 12 to 15 years.
Characteristics & Personality: They are independent, highly intelligent, and strong-willed observers who act like big dogs in small bodies; they are naturally alert watchdogs with a strong prey drive.
What They Enjoy: They love brisk, daily walks, tracking scents, playing ball games, and participating in engaging problem-solving activities. And of course a good snooze!
THE WEST HIGHLAND TERRIER
Origin: They originated in the rugged terrain of the Scottish Highlands.
Bred For: They were bred to hunt and clear out underground den-dwelling vermin like rats, badgers, and foxes; their bright white coat was intentionally selected so hunters could easily distinguish them from prey in the field.
Coat Description: They feature a distinctive, weather-resistant double coat comprised of a hard, straight white topcoat and a soft, dense undercoat that naturally frames their face into a bright, rounded expression.
Brushing Schedule: Use a slicker brush and metal line comb at least two to three times a week (ideally daily). Focus intensely on the beard, belly apron, and leg furnishings where mats and debris easily form.

What They Enjoy: They love interactive play, brisk daily walks, digging, chasing small toys, and spending quality time following their human family members anywhere they go.
